Student Profile – Darren Taylor

Darren Taylor is an Islington born and bred life long Arsenal supporter who has put himself through college and managed to achieve the highest standards in cooking. Please have a look at his profile below. Darren designs all the menus and cooks all the food from scratch on the premises here at North Nineteen and oversee the day to day management of the kitchen. He is also in charge of all kitchen staff training to ensure the highest standards are maintained.

Darren Taylor was nervous when he first started at Westminster Kingsway College as he was slightly intimidated by the College’s reputation.

“I had heard about the College through reputation but I thought that it would be too big” he explained. However Darren went on to achieve a distinction in his practical exam – the only student in his year group – and was recognised with the College award for highest achieving male student.

Darren has enjoyed his three years at the College and participated in several culinary competitions on behalf of the College. Darren was awarded the prestigious Caterer and Licensee Student Chef of the Year award at the Wessex Salon Culinaire earlier this year (2005).

To help you woo the special person in your life we have put together a mouth watering & passionate Italian menu, and at £13.00 per person for a three course meal, you simply can't go wrong. But please do book in advance as last year was very busy and we would hate to turn you away on the night!!
